The Ladies

I love this picture! There is so much character in the clothes people dressed  in back in the 1930s, 40s and 50s. Am I saying this was the  norm in all social classes, no. However, nice to appreciate it.

It would be interesting to hear from others about what “our” thought process is now in comparison to the good ole days in terms of how we want to present ourselves.  Has it changed at all??

The Bold Italic’s Haberdash men’s week events turned out to be a lucrative time for men’s fashion in San Francisco. The fashion show, held on August 25th, showcased five boutiques from San Francisco including: Revolver, Candystore Colletive, On The Fly, Jack’s San Francisco and Saboteur!

Exuding rustic old-world style with a modern twist, The Burritt Room–situated on the second floor of the Cresent Hotel–hosted the extravaganza. The hotel’s boutique feeling and welcoming staff provided the perfect setting for this style of show.  The energy was  masculine, modern and elegant and the gents on the runway preformed well with the 60s mod, rock and soul tunes.  Distillery No. 209 provided the fashionable patrons with tasty libations throughout the night  to add a complete sense of a good time.

Good job Bold Italic!

Cyan Banister of Zivity and Danielle Cohen from Missing Piece Productions assembled a team of great models and designers for the Zivity Striptease Fashion Show & Charity Auction.  The show was held at the classy RF80 in Potrero Hill where models walked the runway in designs from Danielle Pettee, SugarPuss, Steam Trunk, Charlie B. and many more. The show’s purpose was two-fold: 1. Present local designers , 2. raise money for some great charities like Kiva.org, The American Cancer Society, Invisible Hero Industies, Save Tibet and Global Opportunity Fund.

I can say one thing about this fashion show, having been to well over 100 shows, this one was fun to go to. The MC was great,  the audience attention was kept,  the striptease section at the end was a great way to engage the audience and raise nearly $6,000.

Other aspects to the show were, a live-streaming with a projection feed for those who couldn’t make it. Along with a great performance by aerial acrobats. All in all the show was great, it raised a lot of money and the patrons had a good time….successful!

Interesting use of a lager safety pin! Filmore street in the Pacific Heights district allows opportunity for great style watching. I love taking my camera out there catching some modern local styles for the area.

This outfit is indicative of a great evening attire. However, going to the ballet or a gala would not be  proper in this getup. A causal night out with some friends for dinner and drinks.

If you look  at the whole outfit you will see a few key points. He’s demonstrates his skill in color combination with paring the light blue of the shirt ( very little showing) with those beautiful brown dress shoes, while using a neutral color ( black) as his base.  This outfit took him no more then 5 mins to put together, but he looks modern and elegant with a cohesive look.

Points of Attraction:

1. Black on black with a light blue collar shit

2. Large safety pin accessory

3. Chocolate brown dress shoes.
