The Avant-Gardist.Com ( Soon to be Elegant In Style) was created to focus on a few key concepts: to capture the styles of the day-to-day fashionable people of San Francisco; to showcase the styles of the City in a unique way, mainly through conscious efforts of the individual who creates their personal image.
G, The Kickstarter.
I’ve always had a deep love of fashion–colors, textures, and styles alike, they’ve always come together for me. I’ve been active in the fashion industry for the past 8 years, including my participation in several fashion shows in my early twenties. I’ve worked with many retail vendors and individual clients to help style the community of San Francisco with my company MEM Fashion, a personal image consultancy designed to provide clients with a life-long understanding of how a well-developed personal image can create a successful and enduring impression. The combination of my business-oriented mindset and eye for fashion has come together to create what is now The Avant-Gardist.Com.

What’s not to love about fashion? Especially if you get to comment on it while playing dress up in the fabrics of geniuses. That’s pretty much the rabbit hole Sara tumbled down to arrive at her writing post at The Avant-Gardist.Com. Well, that plus a healthy obsession with clothing and urban culture.
Sara isn’t a designer, a professional photographer or a super model. So who is she? She’s a Chicago native who’s cut her teeth in PR, brand strategy and advertising. All of this has provided plenty of fertile ground to grow a non-traditional perspective on fashion. Is she sarcastic? No, never, she wouldn’t dream of it. Does she get excited to write about design every week and create a platform for discussion? Absolutely

Everything about fashion makes me smile – from the process of putting outfits together to seeing different styles sported around this city. I love that it’s an expansion of one’s personality and state of mind. To me, fashion has become a way of expressing yourself and the best part about it is that it’s altering – a simple item of clothing may have an effect on the way people see you and the way you may see yourself, and that statement can change from outfit to outfit, neighborhood to neighborhood. Your style in one particular day can change the way you feel as opposed to the way you look…there’s just something about the pair of heels or silk blouse that can bring out a confidence in you that you never thought existed! That’s why I’ve joined The Avant-Gardist team – to express myself through my fashionista eyes…writing about a “fashion current event” every week to show you how you can start expressing yourself with your clothing, even if you don’t think you have style.
