As London Fashion Week spins on and spring lines fill store shelves, I’m trying my damndest to keep my money in the bank instead of hanging in my overcrowded closet.
I found the best way to stay inspired and looking fresh was to try and make something myself. I’m not suggesting that everyone rush out and buy a sewing machine (you can if it suits you) but I am suggesting a little springtime DIY project. Thanks to a friend of mine, I found this very clever DIY blog called, A Pair and a Spare.
Inspired by the blog’s DIY neon necklace and my love for Tom Binns, I headed for Blick’s spray paint display. Just standing in front of the rows and rows of colored spray I conjured up at least a dozen projects for my apartment. I could spray paint my black lamps, I could do some urban graffiti, I could stencil t-shirts, I had to focus. I was there to find the perfect color to spray big rhinestone costume jewelry. I settled on a giant can of Poison Light (the color of a tennis ball). With can in hand I headed to Payless where I found some perfect seven dollar earrings to spray paint neon yellow.
Tonight I will let the spray paint fly. Hopefully, it all works out; otherwise I’m sure I can find something else to turn bright yellow.
This is what I hope the earrings end up looking like:

This is how the necklaces on A Pair and a Spare turned out:
