Visiting San Francisco is one of the most sought after travel experiences in the world with food, entertainment, and fashion. Travelers save their cash, plan ahead, and even sell their belongings to visit this global hot spot. Over the years many travelers have told me that one of the reasons they travel to San Francisco is due to our incredible entrepreneurial spirit. A woman who has taken the entrepreneurial spirit bull by its horns is San Francisco native Danielle Cohen, founder of Urban Air Market.
In 2005, Cohen began a production company called Missing Piece, providing management and event coordination services to local artists and fashion designers. Doing this, she won several San Francisco fashion awards including “Best Event Producer,” “Best Fashion Event,” and “Best Artist Rep.” Later, Danielle started promoting small trunk shows and shopping events, eventually taking over a creative marketplace called “Capsule Design Festival” in 2010, which she later renamed Urban Air Market.
The Urban Air Market reflects Cohen’s mission of building a stronger sense of community in the creative market and featuring local artists and sustainable designers, all the while removing the third-party gap between consumer and maker.
